What inspiration do you take from your own life and experiences when giving advice to others?
Everything I write about is what I have either observed or experienced myself. So although I feel super-cheesy using the word inspiration, since my daily life is what I use to get ideas for Smart Pretty and Awkward, then I guess it's also my inspiration! I'm almost always thinking about things to use on the blog--I carry around a running list in my Blackberry and am always updating it.

“It is impossible to keep a straight face in the presence of one or more kittens” —Cynthia E. Varnado
I am absolutely in love with the quotes you pick. What is a quote you are inspired by?
Most of my favorite quotes are music lyrics. "And in a thousand years and a thousand tears, I'll come find my original crew," from the OAR song "I Feel Home" is probably my overall favorite. It always reminds me how much I love my girls, and wouldn't change them for anything. Plus, the entire song pretty accurately describes growing up in a small town, so it always reminds me of home and gives me a sweet feeling. (What a sweetheart, right?)

“Never grow a wishbone, daughter, where you backbone ought to be” —Clementine Paddleford
What’s the best piece of advice (smart, pretty, awkward, or otherwise) that you’ve ever gotten?
From my parents--buckle your seat belt! Can't ever go wrong with that advice. (Too true!)
